Blepharoplasty is one of the most commonly performed functional and cosmetic facial plastic surgical procedures.
Blepharoplasty procedure (Eyelid surgery) involves removing excess skin, removing or tightening some of the surrounding muscles, and either removing or repositioning some of the fat in the area to create beautiful and youthful eyelids. This procedure can give your eyes a more refreshed, youthful and lifted appearance.

With age, the skin becomes less elastic and loosens. This can cause folds and bagginess in the skin around the upper and lower eyelids. Some patients find that the folds and bagginess hang over their eyelashes and impair their vision.
Genetics do play a role in this too, and some individuals notice a change in the appearance of their eyelids during early adulthood. Blepharoplasty can be performed to correct this problem at any age.
Blepharoplasty procedure (Eyelid surgery) can be performed just to the top, or bottom or both eyelids. Dr. Lo can guide you depending on your individual needs and preferences.
Two different types of blepharoplasty
Upper eyelid blepharoplasty and lower eyelid blepharoplasty. During initial consultation, Dr. Lo will guide you with if you need either of two or both upper and lower eyelid surgery.

Recovery from the procedure
For 24-48 hours after the surgery, ice packs should be used. Avoid any strenuous activities, such as heavy lifting or exercising for at least 7 days after surgery. Swelling should decrease in 1-2 weeks if you have had an upper eyelid blepharoplasty, whereas an upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty takes 2-4 weeks. In a few patients, this swelling and bruising can last for a longer period of time.
