Brachioplasty (Arm Lift) Procedure in Knoxville, TN
The arm lift or brachioplasty procedure removes loose skin and fat from the arms. There are two types of arm lifts. A mini-arm lift is a smaller procedure that involves an incision only in the armpit. The extended arm lift involves an incision that extends from the armpit to the elbow or slightly beyond. The arm lift can be combined with procedures too like the mommy makeover.
Mini Arm Lift
In axillary arm lift (also known as an armpit arm lift or mini arm lift) incision can be used to remove a small ellipse of tissue. This arm lift is best utilized for patients who have loose skin confined to the armpit area or upper arm. This mini arm lift can be combined with upper arm liposuction to produce a significant improvement in upper arm contour. The scar remains hidden within the armpit.
The short scar brachioplasty is placed within the armpit but is appropriate for very few patients and produces much less improvement than the L-shaped scar that extends down the inner aspect of the arm. The goal is to conceal the scar within the inner aspect of the arm.
Extended or Full Arm Lift
The extended arm lift or full arm lift involves an incision that runs along the inner aspect of the arm and extends into the armpit. This arm lift is beneficial for patients who have a lot of skin laxity that extends the entire length of the arm. Surgery is often called L-shaped brachioplasty or an extended brachioplasty. Patients who have lost a lot of weight or have a significant loose skin may benefit from this more extensive arm skin reduction and lift. This extended arm lift allows more fat and skin to be removed, and it can produce a much better contour.

Recovery from the procedure
It will take 2-3 weeks to return to normal activity. Avoid exercise, strenuous activity, and lifting a lot of weight for at least 6 weeks.
