Breast Implant Revision

Are you considering getting your breast implants removed? You are not alone. According to American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), latest data, approximately 50,000 women get their plants removed every year. 

In many cases, the explant is a fairly straightforward cosmetic procedure during which the Dr. David Lo will remove the implant from the breast capsule. In some cases, conditions like capsular contraction, deflation, or rupture may make the removal surgery more complex, but desired results can still be achieved.

After explantation, the breast usually returns close to its pre-augmentation condition, including size and shape. If there is a weight gain since the first surgery, the final breast volume may be slightly fuller than pre-surgery state.

To ensure patients are happy with their breasts post-op, Dr. Lo may suggest additional procedures. If the implant is large or has loose skin, or wishes to have the best possible breast shape with the natural tissue, surgeon may often recommend a breast lift along with the removal procedure.

What is Breast Reduction surgery?

Breast reduction surgery, or mammoplasty, is the removal of excess fat, tissue and skin to create breasts proportional to your size. In most cases, excessively large breasts can cause discomfort and skin irritation, as well as emotional and physical pain. Implant-Based Breast Reconstruction

One way to reconstruct the breasts is using implants. Reconstruction with an implant usually requires tissue expansion, which stretches the healthy skin in order to adequately cover the implant.
