Alishia Denney can’t wait until bikini season. For the first time in her life the 43 year-old mother of four is looking forward to wearing a bathing suit.

“I’m so excited for summertime because I can wear a bathing suit that I’ve never been able to wear. One of the bandeau bathing suits – I just bought it and I’m so excited!”

Alishia has a newfound confidence since undergoing a breast reduction with Plastic Surgeon Dr. David Lo. The procedure reduced her breasts from a size 36H to 36D.

As long as she could remember, she had supersized breasts. “Everybody knew me by my big boobs,” Alisiha explains. The staff at her favorite restaurant had a nickname for her because of her breasts. “They even wrote it on my ticket.”

The biggest issue was the pain the weight of her large breasts caused.  At one point she developed a pinched nerve that made it difficult to walk normally. “I was in so much pain. I thought I was having a heart attack because the weight of my left breast.”

Exercising was also difficult and uncomfortable because sports bras aren’t available in her size.  “I couldn’t wear a regular bra. I had to wear one with shoulder pads because my shoulders had divots. They were like valleys. It’s made me have bad posture.”

A friend recommended Dr. David Lo of  to Alishia. He performed a bilateral reduction mammoplasty on her in July of 2021. Since surgery was medically necessary to relieve the extreme pain her condition caused, the procedure was covered by her insurance plan.

Alishia says even without insurance, the pain relief was worth it. “It’s amazing. Amazing! I would’ve saved every penny, I would’ve eaten Ramen Noodles, I would’ve done anything I could if I would’ve know how good I would feel after the surgery.”

Dr. Lo says Alishia’s reaction is common in breast reduction cases. “These are very happy patients. Regardless of the aesthetic outcome, I’d say 100% of these patients are happy because they immediately feel better.”

Her only regret is that she didn’t do it sooner. “It’s been emotional and life changing for me! I feel so good. It’s made all the difference in the world.”  

Since surgery Alishia has lost 40 pounds. Exercising and shopping are now a breeze. “I can wear normal clothes. I can go to Target and buy clothes I couldn’t buy before. I’m not limited anymore.”
