Dr. David Lo grew up in a bi-cultural environment having spent his early childhood in Taiwan before moving to Atlanta, Georgia.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Duke University, he received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in 2008. He returned to Duke University Medical Center to complete one of the most rigorous training programs in general surgery as well as a postdoctoral research fellowship at the prestigious Hagey Laboratory for Pediatric Regenerative Medicine and Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine. In the interim, he has authored more than 30 book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles, most notably in Cell, PNAS, and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Following his passion for plastic surgery, he spent the subsequent 3 years training with some of the preeminent leaders in plastic surgery at Emory University, one of the storied programs, in Atlanta.

Dr. Lo’s broad and extensive training has given him vast experience in all aspects of plastic and reconstructive surgery of the face and body. He has a special interest in breast reconstruction after mastectomy, restorative breast and body contouring surgery after massive weight loss, and breast reduction.

In addition, he offers cosmetic breast surgery, surgical and non-surgical rejuvenation of the face and body, as well as reconstruction of the trunk and lower extremities. His paramount goal is to provide outstanding patient care and results with the utmost comfort and safety.

Outside of work, Dr. Lo is eager to give back to the Knoxville community. He is on the Board of Directors of Cancer Support Community of East Tennessee. He enjoys spending time with his friends and family, exploring new cuisines, tasting wine and bourbon, traveling, and cheering for his beloved Duke basketball team.
