Mastopexy Procedure

A mastopexy, commonly known as a breast lift, is a procedure that helps to raise the breast by removing excess skin and lifting the breast into a better position to appear more youthful.  Nipple may also be relocated to a higher position on the breast mound and tighten the remaining skin for a perkier breast shape. A mastopexy can be performed either on its own or in combination with a breast augmentation with implants. 

Patients who want smaller breasts can opt for a combination of lift and reduction procedure to lighten the load of heavy breasts.

Mastopexy normally takes approximately 2 to 3 hours to perform depending on your size and shape. The surgery is performed under general anaesthetic, commonly as an overnight procedure.

Every effort is made to achieve scars that are as short as possible for the safe performance of the surgery, and which, once fully healed are barely visible.

There are different types of Breast Lift techniques available and the optimum procedure for you will depend on your goals and existing size and shape. The important factors that determine the technique that is suitable for you are your initial breast size, degree of drooping, and skin elasticity.

Recovering from Breast Lift Surgery

After breast lift surgery, the breasts will be swollen and tender. Our Surgeon will write you a prescription for pain medication. He will also advise you to wear a surgical bra to help support the breasts as they heal. In 3-4 days you can start a light physical activity. It takes 4-6 weeks to start a strenuous physical activity. Every person is different, therefore Surgeon will have a post procedure consultation to monitor and guide you through your post procedure recovery process.
