Are you considering the Tummy Tuck – Abdominoplasty Procedure?  Dr. David Lo of Premier Surgical Plastic Surgery in Knoxville, is a highly trained Plastic Surgeon. In your consultation with him, he discusses not only the procedure but the post op healing process too. You will enjoy the detailed discussions and feel confident about the procedure.

It’s natural that you want to bounce back as soon as possible to normal after your surgery, but it’s important that you give your body time to heal.

Our Cosmetic Plastic Surgeon will recommend that you wear a binder for a certain number of weeks and  provide you other instructions too.  We have composed a quick guide for you to learn more about the healing process and a few things which you can take care of.

Abdominal walls are used when we move ourselves. You will feel a bit of discomfort for a few days.

  1. Take at least 10-12 days (2 weeks) off from work.
Even though it is a safe procedure, it still needs a few days to heal. It is best to take days off and relax. Taking adequate rest will help your abdominal wall to heal well and get you ready for all the physical chores and activities.
  1. Eat a healthy and nutritionally balanced diet.
Eat nutritionally balanced meals, including vitamin C-rich foods. Stay hydrated. Drink several glasses of water a day and avoid beverages that contain sugar and caffeine. Strive to cut out smoking and drinking out of your routine during the healing process.
  1. Follow your Surgeon’s instructions.
Every patient is unique. Dr. Lo will provide you with specific instructions. It will serve as a guide and make your healing process smooth and easy. Keep the communication open. If you don’t understand anything, feel free to contact our  Premier Surgical Plastic Surgery staff.
  1.  Make yourself comfortable.
Being comfortable while you rest and recover will make the process easier for your body. Use enough pillows and slowly get in and out of the bed.
  1. Have someone around to help.
While recovering, your activities will be limited. For this reason, it can be great idea to have someone around to help you whenever you need it.
  1.  Start doing some walking.
Although rest is essential while your body heals, light activity such as walking can be greatly beneficial to the body.

Follow these points and other instructions from your Surgeon. You will have a smooth and healthy healing process.
